Compulsory "I earned my Certified Risk Manager (CRM) designation from Risk & Insurance Education Alliance!" Post.

Several years ago our (then) CFO had me compile the data for our corporate insurance renewal as we were in a transitory phase and resources were stretched thin. He left the company shortly after which left me in the position to take over the corporate insurance portfolio for the LA Times (though I had limited experience in corporate risk). As I have become more proficient over time, my boss(es) have naturally started to lean more on my opinion and/or decisions on matters that have very large dollars and consequences. Additional investment on my behalf was absolutely necessary for the additional trust that they put in me. (Note: This is LinkedIn -> you know I have to write it this way 😅)

I set this goal in August of 2023, so it took just under 1-year for the x5 16 hour live classes, x5 written tests, and the first time I had to make flash cards to pass tests in a very long time. It was brutal. Work got in the way a couple times and I had to repeat a couple classes to ensure I didn't fail any tests. Was it worth it? Absolutely. Incredible organization. Extremely knowledgeable instructors. Fair pricing model (annual subscription). Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions on any aspect of this cert as information online is lacking.

Fun fact: I got a tongue ring when I was maybe 16 lmao. I don't remember what price I paid with my parents, but I know I didn't ask. Never thought it would be TV worthy haha. Must be a slow day in entertainment news 😂
